“Library systems consortia - a strategy for development and survival?

Libraries of all types are under pressure to adapt in the current economic climate. Increasingly they are joining consortia to cut costs, streamline operations and have stronger voices when dealing with systems suppliers, publishers and database aggregators. But do consortia provide an effective alternative to outsourcing? And to what extent do they benefit users?

Will’s presentation will look at issues, such as governance and integration, that affect libraries of all types and encourage further debate.

Will Blackburn has worked in library supply since graduating in 1998, having read Publishing at university. Since joining Civica six years ago, he has worked on a range of Library transformation and system integration projects.

This talk will be of particular value to anyone registered for CILIP Chartership and can contribute towards CPD requirements.
